Chicago Fire VS Portland Timbers Postgame & Player Ratings

The 2-2 home draw can be seen as nothing less than a huge success for our suddenly less than horrible Men in Red.  After falling behind 2-0 from goals on either side of halftime by Valeri and Zemanski things looked incredibly bleak, especially considering the woodwork had prevented the scoreline from looking more like 5-0.  Falling behind 2 goals to one of the strongest teams in the league was not at all surprising but the following response by the Fire perhaps was.

Hell of a Night- Schoolboy q

During the Pacers-Heat series TNT debuted a new Schoolboy Q banger named Hell of a Night.  Apparently it may or may not be on his upcoming album Oxymoron.  Whatever its fate it is worth checking out.  It has been removed from youtube but you can listen to it on earmilk.... Hell of a Night-Schoolboy Q

USA VS Jamaica Preview: Welcome to the Office

The USMNT traveled a day early to Kingston to get better acquainted with their surroundings in hopes of avoiding another disappointing upset to the Reggae Boyz.  Kickoff is slated for 8:30 pm at Jamaica's home stadium in Kingston, "The Office".  The questions surrounding the game involve whether or not Geoff Cameron might step in for the, currently error-prone, Omar Gonzalez.  Although Omar has been a bit shaky lately I think Klinsman will stick with Gonzalez in the name of continuity.  Also, benching Omar at such a late point in this camp could be quite a confidence blow for such a young player.  Omar appears to be what Klinsmann sees as the future in the back for the yanks and I must agree with him.  The youthful errors will fade as he sees more games.  Hopefully the errors just don't prove too costly in the short term.

Bumpy Pitch

If you have taken the time to take a look at the Footie Lyfe library then perhaps you have stumbled across The Original Winger and Bumpy Pitch.  If not its time to check it out.  Bumpy Pitch puts out some of the best soccer swag you can find.  Vintage American clubs like the L.A. Aztecs, Seattle Storm, and Detroit Express are given new life in the form of high quality t-shirts from Bumpy Pitch.  Go check them out. You will not be disappointed. Some of the biggest U.S. soccer stars go to Bumpy Pitch when they are looking for something fresh.  They have also been worn on How I Met Your Mother and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia if that gives them any more street cred. Bumpy Pitch

USA VS Germany

Today's USA friendly against Germany at 1:30 on ESPN 2 will be a difficult challenge for the Americans.  Coming off a lackluster 4-2 drubbing by the Belgiums the USMNT will need to eliminate the simple defensive errors that Belgium was so easily able to take advantage of.  Look for their to be a few changes in the lineup today.  According to soccerbyives.net the first team practice squad included Fabian Johnson slotting in at left midfield and Brad Evans in at right back.  We will also hopefully see the return of Michael Bradley to the middle of the field now that he has had some time in the camp.  Germany will be fielding a B squad but as the number 2 ranked team in the world that will still be a very formidable squad, including the likes of Klose and Podolski.  Brad Evans at right back concerns me simply due to his lack of playing time there and his technical deficiencies but perhaps he will show the mettle of a good American MLS player and prove to be rather efficient.  I really like the Fabian Johnson-Damarcus Beasley duo on the left side.  If they can manage to defend at all then much of the US attack should come from overlaps and combinations on that flank.  Here's to hoping Jozy gets a little more service and puts a few away today.  Sadly that seems a bit of a pipe dream at this point.
I've been on the hunt for a watch for awhile now.  This one from Jack Threads and August Steiner caught my eye.  What do you think? Hit the link for a closer look. Jack Threads Watch

Chicago Fire: Work Still To Be Done

The match between the Chicago Fire and D.C. United this Sunday at 4 p.m. Central is a sad clash between former MLS powers.  With both D.C and Chicago mired at the bottom of the table this weekend's game lacks much of the hype that usually surrounds this rivalry.  However, while D.C. looks destined to finish this season in the doldrums the Fire have given themselves a lifeline with the recent acquisitions of Bakary Soumare and Mike Magee. Inaugural Post

An inaugural blog post is somewhat daunting so I have decided to use this initial post to introduce Footie Lyfe to the world.  This blog will feature soccer stories from across the world with a special focus on Major League Soccer and the Chicago Fire.  It will also include posts on other current cultural happenings that are awesome enough to make the cut.  Most of all, this blog is intended to entertain and inform the young American soccer enthusiast.  To get things started let French Montana serenade your exploration of the interwebs.  RIPCITY 4 LYFE!!!!
